Living Room Face Lift!

Here's a recent living room redesign ... a room that started off ...well honestly, not too bad! The bones of the room were awesome...big open space, hardwood floors, fab fireplace, creamy linen drapery and roman shades,  white slip covered sectional and chairs
  and 3 tall black bookcases.

Our client called us with her dilemma...its all there but its just not completely working. Hmmm..we have definitely heard that before. Great furniture is one thing but what really makes a room feel pulled together is the layers that come after the furniture....

Here is our first look at the space.

Great bits to play with but the layout is not working - abit of a floating carpet island with furniture on all corners!
The dark walls are closing in the space and there is no rhythm
to the art and accessories. .

So here's what we did ....

Painted out the space ( and also a connecting foyer and dining room)
This was the clients pick as she had just painted out her bedroom in this colour and it felt warm and inviting and really works with all of the rooms in the house.
Thanks New Heights Contracting!

Lighter and brighter :)

One week after our initial look, painting was complete and we did some retail sourcing for some new pieces to fix that "not working" dilemma. Layers layers layers!

Here's the haul...we also shopped for her master bedroom too so extra bits are shown in this photo. We always try to use as much of the clients things as possible.
It has to feel like their home not a show home! There are no budget breakers here...just beautiful pieces that work together seamlessly.

First thing on styling day is clear the room.

We added in the new area rug and reworked the furniture layout.

Stacey cleans...I take photos :)

This layout fits the beautiful bay window and fully functions for conversation
as well as focusing on the great fireplace and mantel .
But its not there yet...

Work in the accent lighting

Eye level lighting is so important for room ambiance.
Two table lamps and a floor lamp were added to the space.

Bring in the art and mirrors.

Layer the accessories and soft finishes ( pillows!) and style the bookshelves.

Now its working....

The final result at the end of the day  -  a really beautiful, pulled together space that is super cozy , great for family, conversation, entertaining and is most definitely "working".

Here's what our delighted homeowner had to say when she came home from work
 and saw her space....
"You two are miracle workers!!!!!!! I absolutely love everything!!! Thank you! I am ready to keep going. I should have had your help years ago. I have wasted so much time and money and still could not make it as beautiful as you have made it." ~CB

LOVE LOVE LOVE our happy clients!! Who are the lucky ones...them or us!?!

Enjoy!

Before...& Happily Ever After

:( Before ... After :)

Who doesn't love a terrific transformation?  I find great inspiration looking at before and after photos. We makeover everything nowadays...people, cars, clothing, whole homes, rooms, or just a piece in a room...so fun to have a "Taa daa!! Look what I did with that." kind of moment.

Awesome! ourlakelife.com

We have done so many redesigns over the years...the best ones usually are when we can use what our client has, give it a face lift and most of the time a new place or use in the room. These designs are fast and do not cost much at all. Sometimes fresh eyes on a tired space is all it takes :)

Here's an old desk used at the entrance of a home salon. Very cool..love the leopard on the chair and the detailed table legs.

After the salon makeover...new look for the desk! Cut to size mirrored top and a bit of black spray paint >>>TaDa!  remarkableredesignstaging.com

Vacant Condo Staging

This was a vacant bachelor condo...400sqft! Client and their agent were trying to sell it unfurnished - and not surprisingly getting zero interest. Looks like a box with a wall. Its so to hard to understand layout empty. Blah!

Furnished it gives buyers an idea of what could be... a super comfy little suite.
This staging was actually done during a power outage...yes, the only light was from the patio window. Yet another missed YouTube opportunity..."Tracey and Stacey:Staging in the Dark"
Sold quickly though...because it was staged! !! remarkableredesignstaging.com

Love this...Stacey will tell you I'm not a fan of too many crystals and hanging bits (ugh!) But this works for me especially against the blue/grey wall and white crown molding. How easy is that? A can of black KrylonIf in doubt spray paint it out!

Master Suite ReDesign

Before : dated and not so inviting

and not the most romantic setting...
The homeowner of this open concept 90s master suite wanted some glam and an updated feel without too much fuss. Also a spot where she and her husband could read or chat and have a glass of wine. They didn't want to do any structural renos so all of the redesign was cosmetic. And this is after...ahhhh.

Beautiful  silk draperies and shades were made to give the room some glam and softness. Add a fresh coat of soft grey paint on the walls , paint out the fireplace , change up the fixtures and Ta Da...new room :) A new floor lamp and cabinet hardware was added in after these photos were taken. All super pretty and not a budget breaker! remarkableredesignstaging.com

Share some of your transformations!
We would love to see!

Cheers!
